Donate today to support us to continue our work

We couldn’t do what we do without volunteers.

We have a range of volunteering roles available, throughout our programmes and across the Octopus Network.

Read our volunteer stories.

If you’re interested in finding out more, or want to get involved with the work we do, fill out the contact form below.

Current Volunteer roles:

  • Get involved in our gardening projects to help us transform unloved spaces into thriving growing areas.

  • Support community development by conduct community conversations, identify needs, resources and gaps in provision, as well as promote opportunities for community involvement.

  • Join our mobile volunteer team and help bring four vibrant nature anchor sites to life. We’re engaging Islington residents to create a mobile crew of people who are enthusiastic to get outdoors, get involved and make a visible difference across a whole landscape rather than a single plot.

If you have practical skills, nature know‑how, orchard gardening and/or garden maintenance experience, we’d love to have you on board. Just as welcome are those who simply bring energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn on the move.

As part of this flexible group, you’ll support seasonal tasks, habitat improvements, community growing, wildlife projects and hands‑on conservation activities. You’ll meet new people, pick up new skills, and help create greener, healthier spaces for everyone.

If you’re keen to be active, adaptable, and part of creating Islington’s first Nature Neighbourhood that connects people and places, this is your invitation to join the team and grow with us.

  • Design and lead local nature wellbeing walks around Islington's Nature Neighbourhood. Walks take place on Tuesday mornings, and the fourth Saturday of each month and are a great opportunity to get to know the local area, identify unnoticed nature or locations for change. Walk leaders pick their own theme and route between Nature Anchors, with full online training available before you get started.

Working here has given me some purpose and a good feel factor by being on someone else’s journey in addressing their personal issues and seeing them manage to stop smoking. I feel empowered to be able to give them the support and a safe space to open up
