Spotlight on… Whittington Park Community Centre

Celebrating the brilliant work of Islington’s Community Centres!

This month’s Spotlight shines a light on Whittington Park Community Centre, and their highlights from 2025.

With over 65,000 visits to the centre across the year, and 46 activities taking place weekly, a lot has been achieved in 2025!

The Big Day Out returned in June, with activities taking place across the park, including free taster classes and workshops, covering everything from fitness and dance to arts, crafts, and wellbeing.

Regular activities continued for the over 55s club, including a trip to London Zoo, music workshops and arts and crafts.

The Youth Club continued to thrive, with cooking classes, and involvement in Octopus’ latest No More Red project, working together to tell stories of home and create change for youth safety.

The Community Garden came back to life, with new planters and a great tidy up to get the space ready for lots more planting in 2026.

Regular gardening sessions begun, with volunteers meeting monthly to look after the space.

Other highlights include the Cafe reopening, with CoffeeHouse607 taking over the space to be used by all, WPCA’s first Vintage Games Day in September, a door knocking day to get to know neighbours better, and the launch of a community lunch at the centre.
