Community Plant Nursery

In August 2018 we took over an unused space on the Hollins and McCall Estate in Tufnell Park as the site for our new Community Plant Nursery. Since then, with the help of Islington Greenspace and the Council's Homes and Communities team, we have added a polytunnel, container and water supply, as well as raised beds with the help of young people from the National Citizenship Service (NCS) - getting the space ready for the community to get involved!

We were very excited to be able to get the Community Plant Nursery up and running, ready for community consultation with local people. We’ve already had lots of interest from local people, who have joined us at our gardening sessions.

'Its such a lovely safe space, my little one is in heaven being outdoors and getting to do these activities

I am often lonely so its great if I can get to meet and talk to people’

On Saturday June 2019 the Plant Nursery hosted a Great Get Together event in honour of murdered MP Jo Cox.

The community came together for a lovely veggie lunch, cooked on site in the Plant Nursery and using some of the produce grown there to add to the meal!
