Octopus Community Network was one of the 13 Community Business Peer Networks in England that took part in the Peer Network Programme or People's Community of Practice, which was funded through Power to Change.

After exploring the following, the Octopus Network went on to review their vision, purpose and values, and changed the way that meetings were run and decision made to ensure that there is shared ownership of the Network and a more equal power-base.

The Community of Practice worked collaboratively with Shared Assets and The Social Change Agency to:

  • Develop new and innovative approaches which improve peer networks.
  • Improve collaboration between support providers and community businesses.
  • Attract new ideas, opinions and approaches.
  • Assess the merits of different networking approaches, and
  • Identify new viable business models
