Biddestone Road Open Space
Improved play and leisure facility

Biddestone Road Open Space

Islington Council is transforming Biddestone Road Open Space: providing local communities a place to enjoy, and children and young people from local neighbourhoods a place to engage in imaginative, stimulating and natural play.

Consultations are being undertaken by Islington Council and are now well underway.  There was a fantastic turn-out at the consultation event held on 16th November 2013.  We had 30 local residents actively taking part in activities ranging from creating a loggery, making and hanging bird feeders in the park, leaf art, and bulb planting.

The Wild Places team are working with the Old Fire Station Community Centre to develop a programme of activities for the area.  We are really keen to engage local residents in developing the Urban Wild Places programme of activities for the Biddestone Road Open Space. It doesn't matter if you're an individual, a school, a local youth group or community group, we'd like to hear from you.

There's not much more we can say right now, as we're only just getting underway and the consultations are not yet completed, so watch this space!

Latest update:  It’s all go at Biddestone Road with the park’s transformation well underway. Contractors Warwick Landscapes have been on-site since September 1st demolishing the old park in preparation for the new and improved one. The old brick wall that ran alongside Holloway Road has been removed and will be replaced by new railings and a new gate; the new pathways have been dug out and the stone for the new seating is already being delivered to site. Hopefully the project will be able to move along at the pace it’s been going if the weather doesn’t get too bad, so fingers crossed for a mild November and December. Have a look in our gallery for the latest photos, and look out for more updates here!

Events: Join us on Saturday 19th March for the opening of Biddestone Road Open Space! After all of the refurbishment since September 2015, the park has been transformed and is now ready to explore. We've got bees, bushcraft and seed sewing on Saturday so join us from 12-4pm. We'll see you there!
