Take the Career Orienteer approach to job search

St Luke's Community Centre

St Luke's offers a divese programme of 'life skills' opportunities for residents of all ages to learn new skills, to help realise ambitions, gain employment, set up their own business, and become more active in their community. You're able to access PCs for FREE and PC Pals to help build your IT confidence. When you're ready to look for work, there's an employability programme and Job Club run in collaboration with corporate volunteers. Also, there's 'Suited and Booted' especially helping men get 'kitted out' to attend an interview. If self-employment is your thing, then the team at St Luke's can help you access the support that you need, including 'Firm Futures' which offers access to pre-start and start-up business support, and a bursary scheme with City law firm Slaughter and May.

 Hornsey Lane Estate Community Association

The Hornsey Lane Job Club takes place every Friday between 10:00-12:00 and offers job seekers independent one to one support, practical help, and advice for those looking for work. The practical support includes help to produce your CV and complete job applications. You'll also be offered help to improve your interview technique and prepare for interviews, and build your confidence.  The Job Club is run by Volunteers with wide ranging skills and extensive knowledge of jobs and careers. You will be supported in a friendly, welcoming environment and will be provided access to laptops and internet connection to help you make best use of internet based job sites.

Caxton House Community Centre

Caxton House brings together full programme of diverse employability support delivered specifically for those recovering from mental health issues through provision of specialist support provided by Jobs in Mind, an organisation located on site. Also on site at Caxton House, is Another Way, which is a youth-led organisation providing young people with a range of opportunities to develop their pathway to employment, including self-employment.  Partner, English in the Community, provides specialst support for those needing to develop their English language. Caxton House is part of the Islington Resident's Engagement IT Mentoring programme and the Advising Islington Together project, which offers drop-in facilities and one to one support, which can help with online job search and accessing Welfare and Benefits information and support.
