Achievments and showcase projects

Due to the success of our recent activities our recent Ofsted report has gone from Satisfactory to Good.

During 2012 we successfully developed and delivered The Sunshine Kidz Zone out of school hours childcare provision. We have managed to deliver a 6 week summer holiday programme in 2012 and hope to repeat this in 2013. We are extending our provision to the Cape ensuring that we can now provide 70 After school club places with extended provision to 7pm for up to 40 children.

The Importance of being a part of the Community Hub Network

Being a Hub is important to us as it has enabled us to be creative and respond to local needs. The support of other Hubs has ensured that we are able to share resources, learn new techniques and keep up to date with current trends and ideas.

Hornsey Lane Case Study

Mr M a local disabled gentleman who has lived on the estate for 20 years and retired due to an accident at work which left him in debt and unable to manage independently. Mr M was referred to the advice team and a student social worker took his case on and managed to support Mr M to manage his debt. Mr M also started to attend the luncheon club where he has made new friends. As Mr M had been isolated for a long period of time before attending the centre it was evident that he had become depressed and this started to impact on his general health. Mr M was supported by the student to apply for funding from Cripplegate to assist Mr M to attend a group holiday with the older people’s project. Following on from this Mr M has received continued support from our centre to apply for housing exchange to avoid the bedroom tax and has been successful in finding a new suitable ground floor 1 bedroom flat in Holloway. Mr M will still be able to attend our centre’s activities has he has been supported to apply for a taxi card and Dial a Ride, he has been provided with information about other services local to where he will be living including HNG community centre.
